It is getting close to that time of year when SBARA members and their families get together for some annual fun radio activity and a yearly nationwide emergency communication exercise. On June 26th and June 27th, over 30,000 hams will be setting up emergency communication stations to test and improve their emergency skills. This year SBARA will be operating 24 hours straight with a combination of stations on 10 Meters, 20 Meters, 40 Meters, 80 Meters and a 15 Meters GOTA station. Again we will be running QRO this year so fun and excitement are the focus of this year's Field Day.

We will be located again this year in Central Park near the intersection of Paseo Padre Pkwy and Sailway Drive. Guests are welcomed to operate the emergency stations under the supervision of a control operator. As is our tradition, setup will be on the Friday the 25^th before Field Day, starting at 10:00AM. Every member is asked to participate in the setup since this is a key part of the practice. The operating will begin at 11:00AM on Saturday the 26th, ending at 11:00AM on Sunday the 27th. Members and guests are encouraged to sit at an operating position and learn how to log a contact and then try to make one contact to round out their learning experience.

Signup sheets will be available for the duration of the event, hurry and reserve the operating times most convenient to you !!!

SBARA has permission to camp overnight and this has become a fun part of the weekend. Bring your tent and stake out a spot to join in the camping experience. We will start taking down the stations Sunday at 10:00AM so extra hands are welcomed.

COME JOIN US AT THE ANNUAL FIELD DAY POTLUCK DINNER

Everyone is invited to join the Field Day POTLUCK dinner at Central Park on Saturday, June 26th at 5:00PM.

We take a break from operating the radios at 5:00PM for a group potluck meal. This year the planning committee is again asking if your last name starts with A through M, please bring a salad to feed 6 to 8 adults. If it starts with the letter N through Z, please bring a side dish, again, that feeds 6 to 8 people to share with the group. SBARA will provide the Main Course, dessert, drinks and all cups, plates and flatware. So, get that family special recipe out and surprise everyone with your family's culinary treat.

The SBARA Field Day 2010 planning and dicussions will be held at the June SBARA club meeting. You will be able to learn all the details and participate in the activities. You are encouraged to ask questions, especially, if this will be your first Field Day.
